Silicomanganese (Ferromanganese-silicon) Product Introduction

Silicomanganese is a ferroalloy composed of manganese, silicon, iron, and small amounts of carbon and other elements. It is one of the most widely produced and versatile ferroalloys in the steelmaking industry. We specialize in the international trade of silicomanganese products, strictly adhering to the Chinese National Standard GB/T 4008-2024 (modified adoption of ISO 5447:1980), and can provide customized specifications according to customer requirements.

I. Product Introduction

Silicomanganese (SiMn) is a master alloy of iron, manganese, and silicon, with manganese content typically ranging from 50% to 75% by mass and silicon content ranging from 10% to 35% by mass, obtained by reduction from corresponding raw materials. Standard grades generally contain 60%–72% manganese and 14%–28% silicon.

Silicomanganese is a commonly used composite deoxidizer in steelmaking and serves as a reducing agent in the production of medium/low carbon ferromanganese and metallic manganese via the electro-silicothermic process. The silicon and manganese in silicomanganese have a strong affinity for oxygen. When used in steelmaking, the deoxidation products form a low-melting manganous silicate (MnO·SiO₂) slag that readily separates from the steel melt, resulting in excellent deoxidation effects.

Key physicochemical properties:

II. Product Classification

Silicomanganese is classified into multiple grades based on manganese, silicon, and impurity content. Under GB/T 4008, the main grades include FeMn64Si27, FeMn67Si23, FeMn68Si22, FeMn64Si23, FeMn68Si18, FeMn64Si18, FeMn68Si16, and FeMn64Si16.

Based on carbon content, silicomanganese is also categorized as follows:

CategoryCarbon Content
Low Carbon Silicomanganese≤ 0.1%
Medium Carbon Silicomanganese≤ 1.0%
High Carbon Silicomanganese≤ 3.0%

III. Product Grades and Chemical Composition
