| Corrosion Resistance | Excellent resistance to high-temperature oxidation, carburization, nitriding, and chloride attack. Inconel 625 has exceptional pitting/crevice and seawater corrosion resistance (PRE≥45). Inconel 690 offers superior SCC resistance in high-concentration nitric acid and high-purity water. Inconel 718/725 resist sour H₂S/CO₂ environments. Oxidation limits: 600 to 1100℃, 601 to 1200℃, 625 to 980℃. |
| Key Features | Outstanding high-temperature strength, oxidation and corrosion resistance; good workability and weldability; stable austenitic structure from cryogenic to elevated temperatures (up to ~1100℃); excellent thermal fatigue and creep resistance; age-hardenable grades (718) provide ultra-high strength. |
| Main Applications | Aerospace:Turbine blades, discs, combustion chambers, casings, afterburners (718, 625).Chemical/Petrochemical:Reactors, heat exchangers, piping, valves (600, 625).Nuclear:Steam generator tubes for PWR (690), fuel element grids.Marine:Seawater cooling systems, pumps, valves, fasteners (625).Heat Treatment:Furnace rollers, retorts, radiant tubes (600, 601).Oil & Gas:Downhole tools, completion equipment, sour service seals (718, 725). |
| Fabrication & Welding | Hot Forming:Start at 1150-1200℃, finish ≥950℃, air cool. Avoid sulfur/lead contaminated atmospheres.Cold Forming:Good ductility but significant work hardening; intermediate solution annealing may be required.Welding:TIG, MIG, plasma arc, electron beam, resistance welding. Use matching filler (e.g., ERNiCrMo-3 for 625, ERNiFeCr-2 for 718). Preheat not required; interpass ≤150℃. Post-weld heat treatment generally not required for solid-solution alloys; age-hardening alloys require specific aging cycles. |
| Heat Treatment | Solution Annealing (600/625, etc.):980-1065℃, then water quench or rapid air cool.Solution + Aging (718):980℃±15℃ hold 1h, air cool; then age at 720℃ for 8h, furnace cool to 620℃ hold 8h, air cool. Produces maximum strength. |
